Sedation Dentistry

Nervous PatientAt Windsor Family Dentistry, we like our patients to feel relaxed and comfortable during their dental procedures. We understand that it is difficult for some patients to get to that state, which is why we offer a variety of sedation methods to help them.

Who Should Consider Sedation Dentistry?

Only you know if sedation dentistry is right for you, but some common reasons patients give for wanting to be sedated are:

  • A hatred of the noises, smells and tastes associated with dental care
  • Very sensitive teeth
  • Difficulty getting numb
  • A bad gag reflex
  • Previous traumatic dental experiences
  • High fear
  • A fear of needles and shots

Choose the Sedation Option That Works Best for You

Our office offers different types of sedation:

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): This is a conservative choices for sedation. When you are sedated under nitrous oxide, you will remain conscious, and you will be able to drive yourself home after your appointment.

Intravenous Sedation (IV): This type of sedation will put you to sleep. You will not be aware during your procedure.

How You Will Feel

Many patients report that after they wake up from being sedated, they do not recall the appointment at all, but feel as though they slept through it.

While you’re sedated, we will monitor your vital signs to ensure that things are running smoothly. If you choose to be sedated via IV, be sure you have a friend or family member available to drive you home after the appointment.
